Upon arrival, an animal control officer picked up the tan falcon, and after some prompting, the healthy bird opened its wings and flew away.
Sick kitten held near dumpster: 85th Ave., 5400 block, Hyattsville, Aug. 10. Animal management received a call about a sick-looking kitten inside a yard. The caller said he was holding the kitten inside a box in front of a dumpster. An animal control officer removed the 2-month-old brown male tabby domestic shorthair. When not claimed, the feline was taken to a rescue group Aug.15.
Opossum in grocery store: Chillum Rd., 2400 block, Hyattsville, Aug. 11. A grocery store employee called animal management to request help with an opossum found on a rack in the store. An animal control officer removed the healthy white opossum and returned it to the wild.

Broken wings: 46th Pl., 5600 block, Hyattsville, Aug. 11. A woman called animal management for help with a bird that flew through her window and may have a broken a wing. She said she was holding the bird in a box in her garage. An animal control officer picked up the blackbird and transferred it to a wildlife rehabilitator for treatment.
Blue parakeet found: Greenbelt Rd., 7500 block, Greenbelt, Aug. 11. A caller reported holding an injured bird that was found walking on the ground. An officer picked up the blue parakeet and transferred it to a wildlife rehabilitator for treatment.
Limping dog at the park: Harrison Dr., 1000 block, Laurel, Aug. 13. A caller reported holding a small stray dog that was found at the park. The dog was limping and appeared to have an injured front paw. An animal control officer picked up the 8-year-old white female Maltese miniature poodle mix. The dog was reunited with its owner Aug. 15.

BOWIE PET ADOPTION SHOW
SPCA/Humane Society of Prince George's County is sponsoring cat and dog adoptions noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at PetSmart, 4500 Mitchellville Rd, Bowie.
